Class overview
Aine watched as injured soldiers ran past her through a narrow pass. She hadn’t expected things to be easy when she set out with her comrades from Glassworks, answering the surprising call for help from the Demons, but the sheer weight of numbers the combined Northi-Westrian forces brought to bear was mind boggling. They had lost the battle, that was clear and obvious, but her unit’s objective had been complete. The relic was safely smuggled out of the now burning city while they had held the rear guard.
She didn’t know what the relic was, she didn’t know why it was so important, she didn’t know why half her comrades were dead and the rest injured, but she had to hope that it was something that would turn the tide of the war.
“Keep going!” she shouted after the few remaining Salamanders and Demons that had hesitated when she hadn’t followed them. She turned fully toward the approaching humans and brought her longsword down with a sharp motion. Fire bloomed along the blade, so hot that it began to sear the grass nearby and caused the humans to come to a wary halt at the sheer heat of it. The tip of her blade scratched a molten line in the stone between her and the enemy.
“If you cross that, I'll be forced to kill you,” she warned, her voice holding an echo of a wildfire.
Their response was just laughter and a cautious approach, swordsmen fanning out and a pair of riflemen hurrying to load their weapons. She let out a scorching breath and let Fire become a reality in the world around her. The air shimmered and the stone slagged into molten puddles around her. Scorching wind flew around her, the sudden heat displacing air aggressively and sending her hair dancing. She took a defensive stance and waited for the first man to gain his nerve. Their courage was bolstered by more men coming up the pass, ready to push the chase for her withdrawing men.
The first man to cross into her domain barely had time to scream before he was scorched to ash and bone. Those that tried to bypass her found that she had placed herself too neatly in the pass opening and they had to dance back with severe burns. Rifles range out and she was forced to deflect away one shot with her sword while the others were wildly off target, the heat haze throwing off their aim.
She couldn’t hold them forever and she knew she would die here. But she would burn as much time and as many men as she could, the flame of hope in her heart that the artifact would all be worth it, that it would bring an end to the war.
“Come, then! I’ll burn you all to ash!”
Tactical guidance
Playing Searing Lotus Style
The Searing Lotus Style is a striker and tank hybrid class.
Trial by Fire is a simple attack that applies Challenged to the target, but it punishes you if you miss. If you have other ways of applying challenge to the target and need to land it, you might not want to take the risk.
Scorching Reprisal is a heavy attack of opportunity that just gives you another free one after. Naturally it's only worth using if you think an enemy will provoke another AoO.
Molten Domain is a tanking domain that forces enemies around you to stand and fight you or catch on fire. Against multiple enemies, this can rack up a lot of burning quickly.
Infernal Bastion is a block that can force the attacker to waste an AP or do some damage to them. If you time it at their last attack of a turn, they'll likely be unable to remove the burn.
