Identity & lore

Lineage overview

Bullfolk are a sub-race of Chimera, native to the rolling foothills around the northern mountains of Northi. Technically the same sub-race as Cowfolk, the extreme sexual dimorphism between Bullfolk and Cowfolk make them physically and visibly distinct. While Cowfolk possess short and curvy figures, Bullfolk tower over those around them with muscular builds. However, it is only the foolish that believe the hulking stature of Bullfolk is a sign of brutish agility and intelligence, as they are quite nimble and some of the most clever architects.

Bullfolk culture prizes bonds more than any one thing. Bonds between friends, family, and partners. If a Bullfolk offers you their honest friendship, it is a friendship they will maintain and protect fiercely. If they offer you their partnership, they will never stray. This level of devotion can be off putting to some as it is often devoid of any need or requirement for reciprocation. Sometimes, especially for those used to betrayal in their lives, it feels “too good to be true”. And many don’t get the full extent of their devotion until their Bullfolk friend follows them on a harrowing journey or stands defiantly in front of a monster to protect them. But beware betraying a Bullfolk that has formed that bond with you. Because it is not your friend you will have to worry about, but their family should they ever learn about it.

Bullfolk are often craftsmen of some kind and it is common for Bullfolk in a community to be the go-to for any construction needs. Even Bullfolk that never take up the professions of hammer, saw, and forge often have hobbies in whittling, weaving, or even painting. The most untrained Bullfolk will still have a knack for the lay of a foundation, the set of a roof, or the plane of a chair. Handmade and personal gifts are common to receive from a Bullfolk during birthdays, holidays, or special occasions.

Bullfolk adventurers are almost always a friend joining someone they care for on a journey, although some simply travel from their homes for the sheer novelty of seeing the rest of the world. They are at home in the frontline, using their size and stature to guard and protect their allies with sheer mass and devastating blows.

And importantly: headbutt a Bullfolk at your own risk.

Male only.

Abilities unlocked

Complete rules for every ability granted by this sub-race.

No listed cost

When you would get Dazed, you may make a Save against the effect even if it would normally not allow for one. If you already had to make a save to avoid it, then you don’t get another.

-1 AP

You lower your head and charge in a direction with your horns. You move X times your speed in a straight line. If you move at least 15 feet, you make a Heavy attack against the first target in your path. They may sidestep this attack for 1 RP.

If a target sidesteps your attack, you continue charging for your maximum distance or until you hit an object. If you charge into another creature, you make a Heavy attack against them as well and the process continues. You do not provoke attacks of opportunity from creatures that sidestepped your attack for this movement.

If the object you charge into is destroyable, the GM may also ask you to make a Heavy attack against it.

These attacks are considered unarmed attacks that you are proficient in, even if you normally wouldn't be. It does not benefit from any sort of gauntlet bonuses.
