Lineage overview
The Dullahan are a subspecies of Fae that are often shunned even from Fae society due to their association with death. Dullahan are able to subconsciously feel death and are in some way pulled towards it. For this reason, most Dullahan end up leaving the Fae society of Easter. The long lifespans of the Fae and the relative stability of their lands make deaths a rarity. Dullahan have little concept of family, and a child Dullahan matures within a year. In non-fae society, Dullahan are unjustly feared and reviled as the harbingers of death as it follows either shortly after a Dullahan appears or it appears right before a Dullahan does. Because of this, it is rare for a Dullahan to ever truly settle down in a place and even most travelling Dullahan have a way to hide their appearance. Male Dullahan often have to resort to magic, while female ones can get away with a hooded cloak and good head placement.
Dullahan have two distinctively different appearances, similar to the Kanolith and Zoalith variants of Chimera's. Regardless of the variant, they share that the Dullahan is a humanoid figure that is clad almost entirely in armor. The male version of a Dullahan is commonly found without a head all together, where as the female Dullahan tends to carry a Fae head with her oftentimes carrying it in her arms. Curiously enough, this armor is normally entirely decorative and offers no more protection than normal flesh would. It is only when a Dullahan picks up a suit of armor and merges it with themselves that their armor becomes resilient.
Dullahan adventurers are rare and viewed with mixed opinions. Some believe in the superstition that they cause death and treat it with caution. Others view their attraction to death as either a free warning sign or a hint as to where money could be found. Personality wise, Dullahans often have a rather morbid sense of humor and a nihilistic outlook on the world. They struggle to make meaningful connections but value the ones that they do.
