Identity & lore
Class overview
The clamour of half a dozen meals cooking at once, pots and skillets sizzling along with the clank of utensils frantically flipping or stirring. A chaotic dance of food preparation found in the busiest cities in Lyr.
The quiet crackle of a campfire under the stars, a small pot bubbling gently, wafting steam to mix with the smoke of the fire above. A simple stew nearly ready to be served to friends resting from a day of adventure.
Tense concentration as an exotic dish was prepared with an eye for presentation. A drizzle of sauce here, an edible garnish there. The stark white of the plate a spotlight of contrast to draw attention to the artful arrangement fit for a king.
Culinarians came from all walks of life and could be found preparing meals from the austere kitchens of Northi royalty to a simple farming cottage in Sorthen. They shouldn’t be mistaken for anyone able to light a fire and char a slab of meat on a stick. Cooking was their passion and their art. Ingredients simple and elegant, mixed with skill and care, could become soul warming meals. After a day of hiking up a mountain pass, sailing through a storm, or even completing a day of schooling, the comfort of a well cooked meal was bliss beyond words.
Tactical guidance
Playing Culinarian
The culinarian is a crafter and controller hybrid that uses various cooking tools to annoy its enemies.
Oil Slick is an incredibly powerful zone control tool. It forces an enemy to move only 5ft per action or fall prone, effectively working as a double difficult terrain. By tossing it directly on someone, if they want to move towards you they have to spend at least 2 AP to leave the oil making it a pretty AP efficient trade. It does fail against enemies who can teleport or fly though.
Pepper Spray is another powerful tool, giving a guaranteed blind that can be used defensively as well. Blind makes an attack a lot more likely to miss, making up for RP you would have spent on dodging an attack. It can also be used on your turn for no mana cost. It also hits your allies though, so be wary of that.
On the crafting side, Perfect Seasoning is just a free bonus you can use whenever you add in an ingredient. You're always going to be adding at least 1 and may even get multiple uses out of it when using Stir Layered Flavors.
Craft Pemmican lets you convert food units into rations without the cost of any actions. These rations are easier to carry, don't require a kit to prepare and less likely to be ruined. It's a nice little bonus and there's little reason not to do it whenever you can.
